Mangawhai, Northland

Nestled amongst the sand dunes, this open and airy home is the epitome of coastal cool. As you walk down the covered pathway to the front door you are greeted by a stunning limestone wall with feature lighting and a one-of-a-kind hand carved door handle beautifully accentuated by the full height sold black door.

Our clients wanted to create a home that complemented the surrounding landscape and environment through a celebration of textures. This is evident in the use of wood, stone, concrete, plaster, and feature lighting throughout the home and exterior cladding. One such stand out feature is the bespoke greenstone-like kitchen island that demands attention as you enter the open plan living/kitchen/dining/bar area.

Designed for entertaining, sliding doors along the front of the home provide uncompromised indoor/outdoor flow to the deck area and lanai, complete with custom firepit, outdoor kitchen/dining and fully retractable blinds for all year-round use. Hidden to the side of the house is an outdoor shower, a must for any home just metres from the beach.

We are back for a few days, and I just wanted to thank you for building such a beautiful home for us. The quality of the build is so obvious and I really appreciate that you did it the right way, even when I was so far away.
