Health & Safety Policy

Our organisation is fully committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, visitors, and any other personnel who may be affected by our activities.

We recognise that effective health and safety management is integral to our success and sustainability. We aim not only to comply with all applicable health and safety
legislation but to exceed minimum standards wherever possible. We strive for continuous improvement in our health and safety performance.

1. Scope

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, volunteers, and visitors across all sites and operations under the control of Tuck Construction. It covers all work activities, including remote work, travel, and off-site engagements.

2. Objectives

  • Prevent workplace injuries, illnesses, and incidents through proactive risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety laws, regulations, and codes of practice.
  • Promote a positive safety culture where everyone takes responsibility for their own safety and that of others.
  • Provide adequate resources, training, and support to maintain safe working conditions.
  • Systematically identify, monitor and control hazards in our workplace and ensure our sub- contractors have the
    appropriate plant, tools, skills and information to work safely.

3. Roles and Responsibilities

Senior Management:

  • Provide leadership and commitment to health and safety.
  • Ensure adequate resources are allocated for health and safety initiatives.
  • Review health and safety performance regularly.
  • Endorse and promote this policy throughout the organisation.

Health and Safety Officer / Manager/Auditor:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety systems.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
  • Investigate incidents and recommend corrective action
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and external auditors.

Site Managers/Foreman/Project managers:

  • Ensure safe work practices are followed.
  • Provide training and supervision.
  • Identify hazards and implement control measures.
  • Encourage reporting of safety concerns.

Employees/Contractors:

  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety.
  • Follow all safety instructions and procedures.
  • Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in training and safety initiatives.

4. Risk Management

  • Systematic identification of hazards in the workplace
  • Evaluation of risks and implementation of control measures
  • Maintenance of risk registers and action plans
  • Regular review and updating of risk assessments

5. Training and Competency

We will ensure that all employees:

  • Receive induction training upon joining the organisation
  • Are provided with or assessed for role-specific safety training
  • Are competent to perform their tasks safely
  • Have access to refresher training and development opportunities
  • Training records will be maintained and reviewed regularly.

6. Incident Reporting and Investigation

All accidents, injuries and near misses must be reported immediately. We will:

  • Investigate and report all incidents
  • Identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain accident/incident logs and statistics
  • Share lessons learned across the organisation

7. Emergency Preparedness

We will develop and maintain emergency procedures for:

  • Fire and evacuation
  • Medical emergencies
  • Map provided for tsunami evacuation route
  • Hazardous material spills
  • Map provided to nearest medical facilities
  • Map provided to nearest AED

Emergency protocols will be discussed regularly, and emergency equipment will be inspected and maintained.

8. Contractor and Visitor Management

All contractors and visitors must:

  • Comply with our health and safety policies and procedures
  • Be supervised as necessary
  • Report any incidents or hazards immediately
  • We have a ZERO tolerance policy for drugs and alcohol in the workplace
  • All visitors, employee, sub-contractors and contractors to be inducted on site arrival
  • All visitors, employee, sub-contractors and contractors to be signed in and out daily
  • Regular safety meetings and toolbox talks (Typically Monday and Wednesday)
  • Ensure all personnel on every site have PPE appropriate to their tasks, including Hi-viz work wear that will be worn whilst heavy machinery is being used.

Contractor performance will be monitored and reviewed.

9. Mental Health and Wellbeing

We recognise that health includes both physical and mental wellbeing. We will:

  • Promote mental health awareness and support
  • Provide access to employee assistance programs (EAP)
  • Encourage open dialogue about stress and mental health
  • Train managers to recognize and respond to mental health concerns
  • Support a safe return to work for injured sub-contractors where this is possible.

10. Sustainability and Environmental Health

We are committed to minimising our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices. This includes:

  • Safe disposal of hazardous waste
  • Reducing emissions and energy consumption
  • Promoting recycling and resource conservation
  • Ensuring environmental risks are considered in all operations

11. Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement

We will monitor health and safety performance through:

  • Regular audits and inspections
  • Review of incident data and trends
  • Feedback from employees and stakeholders
  • Annual policy reviews and updates

12. Policy Communication

This policy will be:

  • Displayed prominently in all workplaces
  • Included in employee and sub-contractor onboarding materials
  • Reviewed with all staff during induction and training
  • Available on the company shared drive

13. Policy Approval and Review

Our policy will always be to apply all practical provisions to best comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 2015. This document will be reviewed annually or immediately in response to changes in Health & Safety regulations.
